John Temple is the director of the Investigative Reporting Program at the University of California, Berkeley. In recent years, he has been a managing editor of The Washington Post, senior fellow in the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships Program at Stanford University, president/audience and product of First Look Media and the founding editor of Civil Beat in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the final editor and publisher of the Rocky Mountain News and was vice president/news of the newspaper division of the E.W. Scripps Co., which owned the Rocky before it closed in February 2009.
